The Institute focuses on data collection, organization, management, and analysis; spatial analysis and mapping; and training and technology utilization. Our clients are varied and come from government, academia as well as public and private sector. Examples of client projects include:
United Way of Lebanon County Community Needs Assessment
The research team utilized focus groups, surveys, secondary data collection and analysis, and a community forum to explore the demographic make-up, unmet needs, utilization of services, and barriers to receiving services for those living in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success State Initiative Project
The team assisted the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Program with data collection and visualization by creating dashboards to further the needs assessment and evaluation elements of the initiative.

R3 Data Analysis Project (Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation)
The team is utilizing focus groups, in-depth interviews, and an internal dashboard to learn more about the hunting public and to address the loss of hunters in Pennsylvania. This work is being completed for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Special Education Data Manager
Since 1999, the Pennsylvania State Data Center has developed and maintained the Penn Data Collection and Reporting System for all special education students in Pennsylvania for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education. Information is collected, analyzed for accuracy, and then used to create reports used by the Bureau for federal funding, litigation, public reporting, etc. The PennData website (developed as part of the project) provides the avenue for public reporting as well as all information needed for the data collection.
