Neil Shook joined the Center for Survey Research in 2020, equipped with previous experience in research on linguistics and second-language acquisition. At the center, Neil participates in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods work and applies his skills in survey design, data analysis, and the intersection of language and primary data collection.

Neil’s interests are wide-ranging, so “the Center for Survey Research was a perfect fit,” he says. “I wanted to be able to engage my interests in language, social science, and understanding people, in addition to my quantitative skills.” He loves the variety the job offers. On a typical day Neil might “program a web survey in the morning, conduct a one-on-one interview over lunch, meet with a research partner about a focus group in the afternoon, and perform statistical analyses on a completed survey to wrap up my day—all contributing to our clients’ diverse range of research objectives.”
