Jennifer Shultz joined the data center in 1992 and became the director in 2022. She oversees collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to research projects and data user requests. Following the 2020 decennial census, she led the center’s data collection and analysis for the commonwealth’s redistricting efforts. In her previous roles at the center, Jennifer focused on both data services and sponsored projects and contributed to a variety of services including programming, mapping, data management, and visualization development, as well as presentation on Census Bureau programs and Pennsylvania trends.

Jennifer’s interest in census statistics dates back to her time as an undergraduate at Penn State Harrisburg, when a professor involved his students in a hands-on project with the U.S. Census Bureau. “We went down to D.C., toured the bureau, and did an analysis project as part of our coursework—and I was hooked,” Jenn says.
