In her work for the Pennsylvania State Data Center, Alyson Garland focuses on gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, with a concentration on public reporting. Her experience includes data entry, statistical analysis, and GIS mapping. 

Alyson devotes much of her time to the data center’s special education project with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. “We collect, analyze, and report on a variety of data points with the intent of improving the educational and post-school outcomes for students with disabilities,” she says. “Ultimately, it's all about helping kids.” 

Prior to joining the Institute, Alyson worked as an environmental specialist with the Duval County Health Department in Jacksonville, Florida. As reflected in her academic studies, she has an affinity for the natural world and enjoys spending time outdoors—hiking, kayaking, surfing, and barbecuing with family and friends.
