Selecting Dashboards

The main navigation at the top of the dashboard area allows the user to select a dashboard to view. Hovering over the category (for example, Consumption, Consequences, etc.) will drop down a list of dashboards related to that category.

Selecting Geography

To view the dashboard by a county geography, click on the dropdown box and choose one of the 67 counties.

Scroll Bar

A scroll bar may appear in the header portion of the dashboard. If the scroll bar is visible the user should scroll to view all information.

Rollover Data

Moving the mouse over a chart will allow the user to view the data associated with that chart. Types of charts include:

  • Pie, Doughnut, Pyramid, and Funnel Charts: Hovering over the pie slice or segment will show the numbers associated with that segment.
  • Line, Bar, and Column Charts: Hovering over the bar or line point will show up the numbers associated with it.
  • Maps: Hovering over a map area will show the numbers associated with the area.

Note: in most cases the charts on the dashboard are linked to each other. Hovering over an item on one chart will automatically highlight data for another chart. Not all charts are linked automatically.

Map Legend

Each map chart contains a map legend. The legend is minimized by default when the dashboard is loaded. The legend can be viewed by clicking on the legend tool () in the bottom left corner of the map chart. The legend can be minimized by clicking on the minimize button () in the upper right corner of the legend.

Dashboard Level Values

Dashboards have a drop down control at the top right corner that will filter the data in the charts. All dashboards have a drop down control with county names. and some have a drop down control for the domain.

Some dashboards may contain additional dashboard-level values that will segment the displayed data by another indicator status, for example, domain on the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) dashboards.

Chart Drills

Clicking on a chart will allow the user to drill into the data presented. Charts that allow the user to drill into additional views have a caret (^) in the title. Clicking on an area in the chart will open a new chart with data filtered by the value of the selected area. When drilling into a chart, the user will see a set of drop down controls showing the filtering values. A return button () in the lower left corner of the chart area will appear, and when clicked will return to the parent chart.

Generating Reports, Data Exporting, and Printing

Users can produce reports in HTML (web based) and PDF (Adobe Acrobat) formats for dashboards and/or single charts. To generate a report for the entire dashboard, click on the report button () in the lower right corner of the dashboard. Clicking will generate a PDF file of tabular report data. Right-click on the report button to select a HTML file. Please note that report generation may take several seconds.

To generate a report for a specific chart, right-click on the chart, and select “View Chart as Report”. Chart reports default to PDF format.

A user can output the data from an Individual chart in comma-separated values (csv) format by right-clicking on the chart and choosing “Export Chart Data”. This file format can be opened in applications such as Microsoft Access or Excel. If the message “To help protect your security, the site was blocked from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options…” click and select “Download File…” .

Dashboards can be printed by right-clicking on the dashboard and selecting “Print Dashboard”.
